The article reveals the advantages and significant potential of introducing video surveillance and video analytics systems in the urban passenger transport system. The chronological sequence of the introduction and mutual convergence of various digital technologies of video-vision and artificial intelligence in urban passenger transportation is given. There are two main segments of monitoring the operation of urban public transport using video analytics: the external infrastructure and inside the vehicles themselves, and the corresponding indicators of the quality of transport services, the identification of which is provided by video vision technologies. The advantages and effects of the introduction of systems for monitoring the quality of passenger transport using video vision have been identified, including optimization of the route network, continuous analysis of economic indicators (revenue, turnover, profitability, etc.), growth in the quality of passenger transport services; automation of routine processes, the formation of large-scale data for the implementation of Big Data algorithms.
