ABSTRACT The progressive addition (Varilux) lens is particularly well suited to non‐accommodating aphakies. When these patients have been fitted with contact lenses and progressive addition reading glasses, excellent vision results in most cases. The paper includes a report on 50 bilateral and unilateral aphakic contact lens wearers who were fitted for reading in this manner. Observations and suggested techniques are included with patient reaction and comments.
