This publication, prepared by the staff of the Center for Primary General Education at the Institute for Content and Methods of Education named after V.S. Ledenev, addresses the pressing issue of first-graders’ successful adaptation to school during the initial period of schooling (September – October). It offers teachers a plan for planning their weekly workload while reducing instructional time to 15 hours per week. It also provides recommendations for organizing instruction in the core subjects of the first-grade curriculum (Russian Language, Literature, Mathematics, and The World Around Us) while reducing the weekly hours allocated to each subject.
