Background: Satisfactory participation in external quality assurance (EQA) is a requirement for pathology laboratories seeking accreditation. Manual entry of EQA results is a time-consuming process that is prone to error and doesn’t reflect routine laboratory procedures for patient samples interfaced with the laboratory’s information system (LIS). RCPAQAP partnered with X-Lab to digitise and automate the EQA process by delivering e-orders for EQA programmes into the LIS and downloading results to the myQAP portal via HL7.
