AbstractProbiotics are non-pathogenic living microorganisms used to prevent various medical conditions however; recently, several studies have suggested the use of probiotics for oral health purposes. They play a beneficial role in preventing common oral health problems such as dental caries, periodontal disease, fungal infections (candida) and halitosis. The aim of this review is to understand the potential mechanism of action of probiotic bacteria in the oral cavity and summarize their observed effects with respect to oral health.
