This paper outlines the development of a continuous manufacturing process for producing the key compound tert-butyl 4-(6-chloropyridin-2-yl)piperidine-1-carboxylate. A 3-step process, performed in batch, had been utilized to deliver significant quantities of the target compound. By employing the same bond-forming chemistry, we designed, optimized, and scaled a flow process that delivers multikilogram quantities of tert-butyl 4-(6-chloropyridin-2-yl)piperidine-1-carboxylate with equivalent quality. This new process offers several superior metrics, including lower PMI and reduced cycle time.
