Memorializes Frank John Vattano (1931-2025). Frank Vattano was a great teacher gifted with fresh perspectives and the ability to convey the importance, centrality, and even the fundamentality of the psychological sciences. Beginning in 1964, served as assistant academic vice president for instructional services at Colorado State University. During his tenure at Colorado State, he also served for several years as dean of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. It is astonishing that a newly minted PhD should be placed in administrative positions at the outset of a career, but Frank excelled in each position. In the early 1960s, Colorado State invested heavily in instructional technology with state-of-the-art recording studios and professionals who assisted professors with the art and science of communication. During this period, Vattano recorded 50-min films for each of the major topics covered in introductory psychology courses. These films were available to all faculty who wished to use them. Vattano must have received every award offered by the university in addition to regional and national awards including Colorado Teacher of the Year offered by the Carnegie Foundation in 1999.
