Taking clean fish tissue samples on a fisheries research vessel is a critical step. For correct and reliable results in genetic downstream analysis the tissue samples must not be cross contaminated with fish residues from other individuals or species. To guarantee traceability of the samples a correct labeling and documentation of fish sampling is needed. Due to lack of time during standard fisheries research surveys only a strict workflow with two other employees can keep conditions mentioned above. After the fisheries haul is sorted different fish tissue samples are taken from each measured individual of the target species. Three workstations consisting of documentation, slaughtery and fixation build the workflow for correct sampling.
