This study aimed to determine undergraduate students’ learning preferences at Van Yuzuncu YilUniversity, Faculty of Tourism. A qualitative research method was used in the study. The study’s datawere collected from a total of 99 undergraduate students studying at Van Yuzuncu Yil University, Facultyof Tourism, in the 2024-2025 academic year through open-ended questions. Content analysis wasperformed on the data. The results of the study show that the learning preferences of students receivingtourism education are generally directed towards interactive and practical methods. While a quiet andactive participation classroom environment facilitates learning, noisy and crowded environments makelearning difficult. Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department students emphasized kitchen practicesin their departments. Recreation Management and Tourism Management Department students foundinteractive discussions and understandable presentations valuable, but complained about noisyenvironments and the concentration on theoretical courses. It is recommended that teaching methodsinclude more practices and use visual tools to adapt to students’ preferences. As a result, these findingscan form a basis for developing more effective teaching strategies in tourism education. However, itshould be taken into account that students’ learning preferences may change over time, and teachingmethods should be adapted accordingly.
