Abstract Semiotics, recognized as one of the most important disciplines of the 21st Century, has gained increased visibility in Türkiye in recent years. Despite the prevalence of information about the history of semiotics, there are different approaches and evaluations regarding the quality, content, and limitations of semiotics. The positioning of semiotics within contemporary academic studies varies depending on diverse perspectives. Given semiotics’ dynamic and evolving nature and its relatively recent establishment as a scientific discipline in the country, a holistic evaluation is essential. This study examines the current status of semiotics in Türkiye in terms of its historical development, definition, theory, and practice. It explains the situation of semiotics, which is considered the science of the age, in Türkiye in a concrete manner and in a clear style. The study also aims to draw attention to the field by emphasizing the value that should be attributed to semiotics and semiotic studies. This study offers insights into the current state of semiotics in Türkiye, providing valuable information for semiotic researchers worldwide. It also serves as a guide for those interested in learning or studying semiotics in Türkiye and aims to illuminate the future of semiotics in the country.
