Road humps are one of the technical means of traffic management used everywhere in the Republic of Belarus 1. Their main goal is to forcibly reduce the speed of cars to prevent road accidents with vulnerable road users (pedestrians, cyclists) in places of their concentration, which are various objects of attraction of the population: shops, children's preschool, secondary and higher educational institutions, healthcare institutions, sports and cultural centers and so on 2; 3. Until recently, road humps were installed en masse, including in those places where their presence, on the contrary, either increased the accident rate, or, for example, significantly increased the amount of environmental losses (due to uneconomical modes of movement of vehicles in areas of installation of road humps) 4. Therefore, their placement is not relevant in all areas at the moment, since even despite the likelihood of reducing road accidents, annual losses (especially economic and environmental) on them are of great importance 5. Thus, the article presents the current results of the analysis of the need for placed road humps in Zaslavl’ (Minsk region). In addition, the possibilities of replacing road humps by setting traffic lights or simply limiting the speed in a given area based on the analysis of the values of total losses for each of the three above options, the features of their location and other parameters are considered.
