An area of 0.6ha was stripped mechanically under archaeological supervision and all archaeological features investigated or sampled by hand. A series of rectilinear field boundaries and a few pits can be dated to the Late Bronze Age (or earliest Iron Age) by pottery. Three phases of Early to Middle Saxon land division and again pits form the major elements of the excavated site, with the latest boundary probably continung into the Medieval period.
