ABSTRACT This article presents an ultrahigh step‐up DC–DC converter that achieves a harmonious improvement in key performance metrics. The proposed configuration includes a three‐winding coupled inductor combined with a switched capacitor in a way to increase voltage gain and reduce the voltage stress on the switches impressively. Also, the voltage stress on the other components like some of the diodes has been decreased. The current ripple of the source can be limited using a small inductor in the proposed configuration, and the experimental results prove the high efficiency performance of the converter due to considering the reduction of the diodes loss in the design procedure. In addition to the comparison of the converter with similar ones, the paper contains analysis and experiments. A 200‐W prototype was built to validate the equations and performance quality of the presented structure. Dynamic response of the converter to sudden changes during the experiments proves appropriate performance of the controller and the converter. Also, the other results demonstrate suitable accordance between the experiments and analysis.
