The utilities industry is at a crossroads: more work is required to modernize the grid than ever before, yet resources to manage, engineer, and execute infrastructure investments are increasingly constrained. Upgrades are needed to connect and schedule distributed energy resources (DERs), strengthen storm resiliency, optimize voltage levels, procure more and manage demand‐side resources, and integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into operations. To successfully execute these priorities, utilities are focusing on recruiting, retaining, and upskilling the workforce.
