The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) in Ethiopia has raised concerns about its ethical implications and governance. A mixed-methods approach combining literature review, expert interviews, and stakeholder consultations was employed to assess current practices and identify gaps. Data from interviews revealed a significant concern among stakeholders about the lack of clear regulations governing AI development in Ethiopia. An ethical framework for AI governance is proposed, emphasising principles such as accountability, fairness, and transparency to address these concerns. Stakeholders should collaborate on developing and implementing policies that align with international best practices while respecting local contexts.
