Mechanistic study of locally transplanted bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells combined with erythropoietin in acute spinal cord injury
Key Points
This research aims to explore the combined effects of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells and erythropoietin on spinal cord injury recovery.
Investigated the effects of transplanted bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells combined with erythropoietin
Compared outcomes with BMSCs alone
Assessed locomotor recovery in an acute spinal cord injury model
Combined therapy led to superior locomotor recovery compared to BMSCs monotherapy
Synergistic neuroprotective effects were observed
Abstract
BMSCs+EPO exerts synergistic neuroprotective effects, achieving superior locomotor recovery compared with BMSCs monotherapy, and represents a promising adjuvant strategy for acute SCI.
