The rapid urbanization of Dakar, Senegal has led to an increase in youth commuting, resulting in congestion and accidents in the city's transportation network. A mixed-methods approach combining quantitative data analysis of traffic flow patterns with qualitative interviews to assess the impact of commuter programmes and safety initiatives. Commute times were reduced by an average of 20% in areas where speed limits were enforced, while a notable trend towards safer commuting routes was observed among youth participants in the safety programmes. Data-driven traffic management strategies have shown promise in improving urban youth commuting and accident prevention in Dakar, highlighting the importance of data analytics for effective urban planning interventions. Continue to implement evidence-based policies supported by real-time data analysis and community engagement initiatives to further improve urban mobility and safety outcomes.
