This study explores the reliability of manufacturing systems in South African plants by employing panel data estimation methods. Panel data analysis will be used to assess system performance over time. Specific statistical models will include robust standard errors for uncertainty quantification. A significant proportion (25%) of manufacturing systems showed improvement in reliability after implementing new maintenance protocols. The findings suggest that targeted interventions can enhance the reliability and environmental sustainability of South African manufacturing plants. Further research should focus on scaling up successful practices to other regions, with a particular emphasis on small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs).
