This study, from the perspective of translator subjectivity, deeply compares the English translations of Treatise on Febrile Diseases by Luo Xiwen and Nigel Wiseman in terms of text-selection, translation strategies, layout, and interpretation. Findings show: Luo selects the popular version while Wei uses the Song-dynasty version for text-selection; Luo prefers free translation with cultural explanation and Wei combines literal translation and transliteration for strategies; Luo restructures content for the public and Wei keeps the original structure for academic research in layout; Luo simplifies for a wider audience and Wei offers in-depth but difficult-to-understand interpretations. Both translations have their merits and play different roles in spreading traditional Chinese medicine culture. This study provides a reference for translating traditional Chinese medical classics, helping to balance popularization and academic research needs.
