Domestic violence is a pervasive issue in Nairobi Districts of Kenya, where legal aid programmes have been implemented to support survivors. A comparative study approach was employed, involving interviews, surveys, and document reviews in Nairobi Districts. Data were analysed using thematic analysis. Gender-specific legal aid programmes showed a significant improvement in survivors' knowledge of their rights (85%) and enhanced access to justice (72%). The findings suggest that gender-sensitive interventions are more effective in empowering domestic violence survivors compared to traditional services. Policy makers should allocate resources towards expanding gender-specific legal aid programmes to better serve domestic violence survivors.
