In aviation, spare parts management intends to prevent aircraft downtimes due to stockouts. It usually encompasses the forecasting of future demand for spare parts, a complex process given the probabilistic nature of failures associated with the different types of aircraft parts. To explore the methods that have been proposed in recent years to forecast aircraft spare parts demand and achieve accurate inventories in the aviation Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) industry, this literature review aims to bring to light the results of their application. To this end, this study comprises the research, screening and contextual analysis of published studies, considering the period from 2010 to 2024. From the review of the 13 studies that resulted from the performed analysis, it was perceived that there is potential in relating aircraft maintenance demand to aircraft spare parts management.
