Our laboratory has been developing High Functional Direct Carbon Fuel Cell utilizing organic waste materials, such as food residues and unused wood biomass, with the global of achieving energy self-sufficiency. This study investigates the power generation characteristics of the HF-DCFC when fueled with soy sauce cake (SSC), a byproduct of soy sauce production. The cell performance was evaluated through current–voltage (I–V) measurements and constant current operation tests. In the previous study, no significant increase in power output was observed following fuel feeding. In contrast, the present study showed an initial decline in power output, followed by a notable increase after fuel injection. This improvement is attributed to operating the system at optimized gasification temperatures, which enhanced the gasification of char and ash components, thereby increasing the yield of combustible gases. These findings indicate that SSC is a viable fuel for DCFCs and can provide sufficient power generation performance under appropriate operating conditions.
