This study proposes a novel turbulence model that integrates the GOY shell model with the Two-Scale Direct Interaction Approximation (TSDIA) framework. By incorporating the energy spectrum and its temporal decay characteristics derived from the shell model, two formulations—one for LES-type and one for k–ε-type eddy viscosity models—are developed. Numerical validation against canonical flows, including a backward-facing step and ridge-induced separation, demonstrates excellent agreement with experimental results, particularly in reproducing reattachment locations and streamwise velocity profiles. Compared to the standard k–ε model, the proposed approach exhibits superior predictive accuracy and robustness, especially in low Reynolds number regimes.
