The objective of this research is to support the setting of design spaces that satisfy the designer's requirements by visualizing the characteristics of various design spaces narrowed down using the set-based design method in the early design phase. Specifically, diverse subspaces are extracted from the entire design space, and the characteristics of each design space are evaluated by three indicators: the size of the design space, the constraint achievement rate, and the independence between design variables that indicate ease of design, and an indicator that expresses the designer's preference to each performance. Then, the system assists the designer in setting up the design space by presenting a procedure for appropriately selecting a space that satisfies his requirements from among the various spaces evaluated. This method was applied to the design of an electric vehicle (EV) motor as a case study, and its effectiveness was demonstrated by the fact that the design space could be set up to meet the set requirements.
