Abstract

The Fourth Industrial Revolution has accelerated the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in project management (PM) and supply chain management (SCM), introducing transformative opportunities alongside substantial ethical risks. This scoping review examines the governance mechanisms and ethical guidelines for responsible and explainable AI (RAI and XAI) in PM and SCM from 2010 to 2025. Using PRISMA criteria and a conceptual framework structured around prerequisites, drivers, determinants, and outputs, 100 studies were analyzed from five major databases. Our findings reveal that while transparency and accountability are critical success factors, a unified governance framework tailored for PM and SCM contexts remains lacking. The review proposes structured recommendations for embedding ethical AI practices aligned with established project management methodologies, ensuring both operational efficiency and ethical integrity.
