The article reveals the specifics of human-animal interaction, special attention is paid to communication with a dog. The interrelation of certain categories of people with a family with the desire to get a dog or to communicate with it on a permanent basis is established. A comparison is made between the characteristics of people who are loyal to cats and people who prefer dogs. The pronounced importance of the dog throughout history and in the culture of different peoples is determined. Attention is focused on the insignificance of the number of studies devoted to the psychological aspects of human-dog interaction. The specifics of the attitude towards the dog during the Great Patriotic War are considered. The factors of a person's need to communicate with a dog are revealed on the basis of the desire to replenish deficient psychological conditions. The essence of psychological problems that a person seeks to solve through communication with a dog is explained. It is established that the worldview under the influence of caring for a dog is adjusted taking into account the formation of new personal qualities in a person. The role of volunteer activity in dog shelters has been determined, which to a greater extent strengthens a person's personal qualities and conscious attitude to the surrounding reality. The necessity of conducting additional research on the correlation of the degree of frequency of human-dog interaction in urban conditions in order to minimize the level of tension in society associated with a significant amount of information has been identified.
