The article examines current approaches to understanding crisis-related manifestations in Russia’s legal education system and their impact on the quality of law enforcement, legality, and the rule of law. It argues that the dominance of formalized educational practices and an emphasis on mechanical learning of normative material constrain the development of professional legal consciousness and reduce future lawyers’ capacity for legal reasoning under conditions of rapidly changing legislation. Particular attention is given to the need to integrate theoretical legal training with value-based orientations that support respect for justice, proportionality, and public responsibility. The article offers generalized conclusions on the advisability of strengthening the spiritual and moral foundations of law as a methodological basis for modernizing legal education and increasing trust in legal institutions.
