Does consistent use of secondary preventive medications improve prognosis in patients after their first acute coronary syndrome?
Evidence-based secondary prevention medications are underutilized in post-ACS patients, particularly among the elderly and diabetics, though consistent use improves prognosis.
Our study showed that the evidence-based use of medications after acute coronary syndrome was suboptimal in Finland, particularly in elderly and diabetic patients. Consistent use of these medications, however, was associated with a better prognosis.
