A visual analogy approach for solving basic stoichiometry is presented here. The purpose of using an analogy is to give students a visual aid that enables them to solve stoichiometric problems. A visual aid such as one presented here as “Mole Bridge”, connects given known data to desired unknown data. This visual aid provides a map of stoichiometric connectivity in a chemical equation which is extremely helpful in remembering the process and mathematical operation associated with each step. Students may choose to label this visual aid as they wish or add other paths as new materials are covered in class to make it their own visual aid in order to help them to conceptualize it more easily.
