Paper 1 of 8 This paper argues that the cosmological constant Λ has been fundamentally misclassified within the framework of general relativity. Rather than representing a vacuum energy density, curvature term, or dynamical field, Λ emerges in the Honeyverse dual‑lattice model as a relational invariant arising from the mismatch between two ontologically distinct structures: the metric HU lattice and the combinatorial ghost lattice. Treating Λ as a physical field is therefore a category error. The paper develops the conceptual foundation for the ΛCE series by showing that the observed value of Λ corresponds to a cross‑category ratio between metric curvature and global combinatorial degrees of freedom. This ratio is inherently dimensionless, inherently small, and inherently non‑dynamical. The result reframes the cosmological constant problem as a misinterpretation rather than a fine‑tuning puzzle.
