Abstract This research review critically examines the sources and impacts of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions within the chemical industry. Emphasizing the significance of the chemical sector in global emissions, the paper thoroughly analyses the primary contributors, including carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide. It investigates the environmental consequences of these emissions, addressing their role in climate change and regional variations. Furthermore, the review explores mitigation strategies, encompassing process optimization, renewable energy integration, and carbon capture. Aimed at informing policymakers, industry stakeholders, and researchers, this paper provides valuable insights for promoting sustainability and environmental responsibility in the chemical industry.
