Stranding observation of an injured finless porpoise Neophocaena phocaenoides was eroded ashore on the Bhogave coast, Maharashtra, India. We observed stranding of finless porpoise and compared it with previous databases and literature survey. Over-all size of specimen was 145 cm and weight roughly 50 kg. By field observation exposed open wound on lower abdomen and interior tissues were apparent. Regression analysis of literature data from 1800 to 2025 (over 100 years) illustrates a more significant decline in the young population of N. phocaenoides, strongly correlated with body weight and length (R2 = 0.4978), compared to the mature population. Moreover, a quick increase in mortality rate has been observed after 2000 (R2 = 0.1541), likely driven by various anthropogenic and ecological factors. IUCN categorized the N. phocaenoides as ‘‘Vulnerable’’ and the present status of this faunal population is a declining trend.
