This article proposes an innovative model for developing writing competence in tertiary education by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) tools with a linguocultural approach. The study examines how interaction between AI technologies and linguocultural principles produces transformative effects across the linguistic, cognitive, and metacognitive dimensions of the writing process. The proposed model comprises three core components. They are culturally adapted AI writing assistants, generative AI integrated with linguocultural knowledge bases, and AI-mediated intercultural writing exchanges. Drawing on data from 150 Uzbek university students learning English, the research demonstrates that the integrated approach obtains significantly better outcomes than either AI-only or linguocultural-only instruction. Key findings indicate that the integration of AI and linguocultural approaches improves linguistic accuracy by 78%, enhances the cultural appropriateness of written texts by 71%, and fosters metacognitive awareness in 74% of learners. The article presents a phased implementation framework for the proposed model, addresses potential challenges including algorithmic bias and cultural authenticity and offers practical recommendations for educators and curriculum designers. The integration of AI tools with linguocultural principles represents a promising direction for preparing students for globally and culturally diverse communication contexts while using technological innovation.
