This document provides the description of the Validation Plan of SATERA (SESAR solution # 0504). It aims at defining the scope, validation exercises and simulator specifications to validate the solution # 0504 against the relevant performance metrics described in EASSP and EUROCAE standard documents. The scope of the validation plan includes the functional validation of the new surveillance solution over continental areas and operational validation over NAT and EURSAM corridors. The expected performance contributions described in the document are in-line with the performance benefits mentioned in the intermediate OSED. The project will validate the composite space-based ADS-B + E-MLAT surveillance over continental, NAT and EURSAM corridors through two validation exercises. To achieve the target maturity level (TRL 2), the validation will be done in simulation through a simulator developed in MATLAB. The validation approach comprises of the development of system simulator in MATLAB to integrate various technical components and simulate the complete system under two types of air traffic: (1) Continental, and (2) Oceanic (NAT and EURSAM corridors). The overall objective of the validation plan is to demonstrate that solution 0504 supports the provision of ATC services with 3 and 5 NM horizontal separation according to the requirements set out in EUROCONTROL ESASSP. The outcomes of validation exercises will be reported in D7.2 Exploratory Research Report (ERR).
