Abstract

This paper argues that the African Union should develop its naval power to protect the interests of the people of Africa. The temporary closure of the Strait of Hormuz because of the war between Iran and the USA-Israel forces has signaled that there can be closure of the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea route at any time in the future. This will have significant economic harm to African people.
