A 5% evaluation of the proposed area of the development was carried out. This entailed opening machine trenches in the footprint of the proposed new house, parking area and access road. Apart from the line of a field boundary shown on the 1898 Ordnance Survey map nothing of archaeological interest was located in any of the excavated trenches.
