The 2025 American Physiological Society Claude Bernard Awardee was Patricia A. Halpin, FAPS, FIUPS. In her lecture she focused on three themes: innovation, collaboration, and inspiration. She presented her innovations such as her early development of online courses and how incorporating the arts engaged students in learning. Her collaborations with colleagues outside of her department used their shared expertise to design assignments that broadened students’ perspectives. Diverse types of social media were incorporated into courses to engage nonscience students in science content and were used to inspire the public to make a positive impact on the planet. The audience was encouraged to take risks to innovate, collaborate and inspire students to make a difference.
