Intratumoral fungal burden of Candida tropicalis as a novel prognostic biomarker for recurrence and mortality in colorectal cancer
Key Points
The study aims to evaluate the potential of intratumoral Candida tropicalis burden as a prognostic biomarker for recurrence and mortality in colorectal cancer.
Analysis of intratumoral fungal burden in colorectal cancer tissue samples.
Evaluation of associations between C. tropicalis levels, recurrence, and mortality.
Higher intratumoral C. tropicalis burden correlates with increased recurrence rates.
Elevated fungal levels are associated with higher mortality in colorectal cancer patients.
Abstract
These results have demonstrated, possibly for the first time, the potential of intratumoral C. tropicalis burden as a novel prognostic biomarker for recurrence and mortality in patients with CRC.
