A significant obstacle in contemporary farming is the inefficient administration of water; with the development of conventional irrigational methods, farmers must depend on visual evaluation of when it is appropriate to irrigate their crops, or strictly adhere to an established re-occurring watering schedule; generally resulting in an over-application of water and a decrease in crop yield. In this article, we have developed an IoT-Based Automated Smart Irrigation System with AI technology to provide "real-time" monitoring, and intelligent decision-making for the purposes of using less water. The Smart Irrigation System runs off a combination of different types of sensors which allow the Smart Irrigation System to have continual access to real-time environmental data; all of this data is collected and processed by an ESP32 microcontroller, and then uploaded to a cloud-based platform where all data is being stored, visualized and controlled remotely.
