Abstract

Archaeological monitoring and recording. Monitoring during excavation of a trench in the area of the Inmost Ward between the Wakefield and Lanthorn Towers. One section of wall foundation was observed between the shop and the displayed length of Roman wall. The brickwork points towards a late 18th century date and the foundation was probably part of the 1777 Ordnance Office.
