This Women's participation in electoral process is a corner stone for democratic representation and gender equality. Despite global progress women remain under represented in political institutions and barriers like social and cultural norms, limited access to resources, illiteracy, financial constraints etc. impede their participation. Constitutional provision for equality to right, seat reservation, capacity building initiative, International commitments, removal of barriers, technology and financial supports are some measures taken to promote women's participation in electoral process. Today Indian women have moved beyond mere symbolic roles to become powerful influences in shaping electoral results. This has been possible with the support of women centred policies which empowering them as decision makers and change makers.
