The issue of climate change has become one of the burning problems of the present time. It touches upon all corners of this world and India is not an exception. Due to variations in weather, the country is experiencing a number of environmental and economic challenges. The impacts of the climate change have been felt in the fields of agriculture, water, forests, biodiversity, health of people, and also coastal regions. Agricultural productivity reduction is also one of the largest issues. As the economy of India and much of the population relies on agriculture and other related activities, any climate change directly impacts the livelihoods and food security. There are already serious problems due to the rising temperatures, irregular rainfall, frequent drought and flood, the rise of sea levels, and melting of the Himalayan glaciers. These changes not only threaten the environment but also put pressure on India's social and economic systems, which are already under stress from rapid industrialization and urban growth. This paper examines how climate change impacts the Indian economy and explores the steps the government can take to lessen its harmful effects.
