The Muscat Document for the Unified Personal Status System (Law) for the Gulf Cooperation Council States was issued in 1996. The Omani Personal Status Law adopted many of its provisions, while the Saudi Personal Status System followed a different approach in several of its rulings and introduced provisions that, in many instances, do not align with the document. Therefore, this study was conducted to examine the rulings related to spousal maintenance in both laws, accompanied by the legal reasoning and justifications, with the researcher favoring what he deems more correct based on Islamic evidences, jurisprudential principles, and the maqāṣid (objectives) of divine legislation. Research Objective: The aim of the study is to analyze the rulings contained in the Saudi Personal Status System in comparison with the Omani Personal Status Law, in order to identify strengths and weaknesses in each, and to develop a legal framework that may be used in codifying the rulings of spousal maintenance, especially in light of contemporary developments across multiple fields that affect such rulings. Methodology: The researcher adopted an analytical and comparative methodology to reach the findings and recommendations. Findings and Recommendations: Among the key findings is the agreement between both laws on some legal rulings, such as the obligation of spousal maintenance even if the wife is wealthy, and granting spousal maintenance priority over other debts. However, the laws differed in several issues, including: the basis of the obligation of spousal maintenance, the extent of the wife's right to claim past maintenance, the wealthy wife’s right to request separation due to the husband's financial hardship, and whether the right established for her constitutes divorce or annulment. As for the recommendations, one of the most significant is the call for a review of the Omani Personal Status Law while benefitting from personal status legislation issued after it. صدرت وثيقة مسقط للنظام (القانون) الموحد للأحوال الشخصية لدول مجلس التعاون لدول الخليج العربي سنة 1996م، وقد اعتمدها قانون الأحوال الشخصية العُماني في كثير من أحكامه، وأما نظام الأحوال الشخصية السعودي فسلك في كثير من أحكامه مسلكا آخر، وأتى بأحكام لا تتفق في جملة منها مع الوثيقة، فجاء هذا البحث لدراسة أحكام النفقة الزوجية في القانونين، مقرونا بالعلل والأسباب، مرجحا ما يراه الباحث راجحا وفق الأدلة الشرعية والقواعد الفقهية، والنظرة المقاصدية للشرع الرباني. هدف البحث: يهدف البحث إلى تحليل الأحكام الواردة في نظام الأحوال الشخصية السعودي موازنة مع قانون الأحوال الشخصية العُماني؛ للوقوف على نقاط القوة والضعف في كل منهما ثم بناء منظومة قانونية يمكن الاستعانة بها في تقنين أحكام النفقة الزوجية لا سيما مع التطورات المعاصرة في مجالات متعددة مؤثرة على أحكام النفقة الزوجية. منهج البحث: اتبع الباحث المنهج التحليلي والمقارن؛ للوصول إلى النتائج والتوصيات. النتائج والتوصيات: من أبرز النتائج اتفاق القانونين في بعض الأحكام القانونية كوجوب النفقة للزوجة ولو كانت موسرة، ويثبت للنفقة الزوجية امتياز على سائر الديون، كما أن القانونين اختلفا في مسائل كثيرة، منها: موجب النفقة الزوجية، ومدى حق الزوجة في المطالبة بالنفقات الماضية، وحق الزوجة الموسرة في طلب الفراق لعسر زوجها، وهل الحق الثابت لها طلاق أو فسخ؟ وأما التوصيات فمن أهمها: إحداث مراجعة لقانون الأحوال الشخصية العُماني مع الاستفادة من قوانين الأحوال الشخصية التي صدرت بعد القانون العُماني.
