OBJECTIVE: The aims of this study was to explore the current condition of burnout, perceived organizational support and turnover intention among medical staff in Shenzhen, the impact of burnout and organizational support on turnover intention is explored to provide data reference and proposal support for hospital managers and related policy makers to take targeted decisions. DESIGN: Selecting medical staff from different hospitals and community health centers in Shenzhen for the questionnaire survey. The independent sample t-test, Pearson correlation analysis and the process plug-in Boostsrap method were used to analyze trends in data. SAMPLE: A total of 800 completed questionnaires had 774 valid outcomes and the effective recovery rate was 89.58%. MEASUREMENTS: The questionnaire content includes a general information questionnaire, Chinese Maslach Burnout Inventory General Survey, Perceived Organizational Support-Simplified Version scale, and turnover intention scale. RESULTS: There are significant correlation between occupational burnout, turnover intention and perceived organizational support (P < 0.01). Organizational support plays a partial mediating role in the impact of occupational burnout on turnover intention (OR = 0.09, 95% CI:0.06-0.13). CONCLUSIONS: There is currently a intention for medical staff to leave their jobs in some degree. Perceived organizational support plays a partial mediating role in the impact of occupational burnout on turnover intention.
