This study investigates the alkylation of guaiacol with furfuryl alcohol over sulfonated porous aromatic framework (PAF) catalysts, such as PAF-30-SO3H (sulfur content: 3–7 wt %). The results reveal major reaction trends, including the effects of temperature, reactant ratio, catalyst loading, and reaction time on product distribution. Under optimal conditions (80°C, guaiacol : furfuryl alcohol : H+ molar ratio = 20 : 1 : 0.05), the total selectivity toward C-furfurylguaiacols and difurfurylguaiacols reaches ~92% after 30 minutes, with 100% conversion of furfuryl alcohol.
