Technical Terms (Shuyu cihui, 术语辞汇) was the scientific terminology dictionary published by missionaries in the late Qing Dynasty, which included physics terms and translations. This article summarizes the composition and division of labor of the personnel involved in the unification of physics terminology during the publication of Technical Terms by reviewing the records of the two missionary conferences in China in 1877 and 1890, as well as the records of the meetings of the Chinese Education Association. Taking physics terminology as an example, through a comparison of translated words, the sources of the physics terminology in the Technical Terms are identified, and it is believed that the terms are mainly based on physics translations of the time, industry practitioners, and existing English-Chinese dictionaries. The physics terminology in the Technical Terms is a summary of physics terminology translated and circulated in the late Qing Dynasty. The Science and Technology Terminology Committee formed an effective working model, which had a positive impact on the unification of physics terminology in subsequent generations.
