In today's economy, insights must be both timely and penetrating if a firm hopes to gain any sort of competitive edge. This paper therefore describes in full detail the strategy, architecture, and change management program used as part of an effort toward implementing enterprise-wide self-service analytics—specifically based on Tableau—and goes well beyond simple technology deployment to discuss in large measure how organizational culture, UX, and governance of the platform play into high adoption rates. The methodology is described that fused TAM/UTAUT with formal change process models as an integrated approach toward managing user resistance. The technical aspect centers on a governed semantic layer architecture that enables non-technical users to maintain data trust and rigor. This paper describes in detail, with numbers, how to measure platform success more than just technical uptime but through specific measurements of Return on Investment (ROI) both in financial and less direct benefits like Decision Making Benefits and Customer Support Benefits. The successful adoption of this model, driven by non-technical interventions, draws a direct line between enabled data-driven decision-making across core business units and a 150% Year-over-Year (YoY) revenue increase. It frames up very fully and robustly for any organization that wants to strive toward real data democratization.
