The MathWorks Acoustic Library™ enables the simulation of acoustic transmission lines, loudspeakers, piezoelectric components, and other acoustic systems in the Simscape environment. The core concept is to model acoustics using lumped parameter systems, which are analogous to simple RLC electrical circuits. The acoustic library also includes components beyond the simple lumped elements. These include several kinds of acoustic transmission lines, piezoelectric pieces, and assemblies of simpler components such as approximate models for radiation impedance and several models of moving coil speakers. In this talk, we present an overview of the library, as well as multiple real-life examples of modeling and simulating components using the library, including inserted earbuds, microspeakers, and condenser microphones. We also demonstrate how the acoustic library may be used in conjunction with components from the electrical and mechanical domains to accurately model complex multidomain systems.
