The Technical Committee on Physical Acoustics (TCPA) explores the fundamental physics of acoustic wave propagation and associated phenomena spanning the complete frequency spectrum from infrasound to ultrasound. Our committee brings together scientists and engineers investigating all dimensions of acoustical science, from analyzing material properties through sound to examining the physical effects of acoustic waves. The TCPA is committed to advancing both acoustical science and investigative methodologies, encompassing theoretical, computational, and experimental approaches. Given our focus on the underlying physics of wave phenomena, our membership is notably diverse and maintains active involvement across multiple technical committees within the Society. This presentation will examine all aspects of the TCPA and highlight its intersections with other ASA technical disciplines.
