Abstract

Sangam Literature is an encyclopedia that exemplifies the ancient history and lifestyle of Tamilans. These are classified as internal, external and inter & external. The inner forms (Agam) the life of love and the outer forms (Puram) the life of war. Kapilar is the author of Kurinjipattu, one of the Pathuppattu. Kapilar lists 99 flowers in the index. Sangakkavi, known as hevvilakyas, are full of records about these flowers. This study summarizes the species and distribution patterns of 99 flowers in Kurinchipattu in Nattrinai.
